Chapel of the Hospital

The Chapel of the Hospital is the remaining stone chapel of 102 hospitals built throughout the Jayavarman VII empire. The hospitals themself were most likely constructed of perishables such as bamboo and wood, which has long since disappeared leaving the large sandstone chapel or 'temple'. This chapel is in rough condition due to its sandstone construction, but some carvings are still visible. It's located just East of Angkor Thom and you can expect to spend around 10 minutes here. It's largely surrounded by trees and vegetation so a visit in good sunlight is recommended, although its central location makes it easy to visit after many of the ruins in the AAP.
