and built a large stone wall around them and added a moat. There are 5 entrances to the city, marked by 5 large gate
structures each with 4 large stone faces
. The walls are typically Bayon style
which is in turn essentially classic Khmer architecture. Angkor Thom is one of the largest ancient structures in the Siem Reap
province, and is a must-visit for anybody travelling the area and visiting the park, especially because of the large number of monuments that lie inside its walls. (13 to be exact) Considering the large number of monuments that this city posesses, it is recommended to allow a whole day to explore the insides of the ancient city, and it can be visited all year round.
